Millertone is dedicated to creating tools for those seeking musical innovation and exploration. Source material derived from found sounds, classic instruments and unique inventions are deeply sampled from every angle and extensively programmed, making available a world of sonic possibilities from the obscure to the obvious.
Matt often performs live using using laptop, DIY synths and found sounds. He has performed with Fred Frith and Gino Robair as well as many musicians in Toronto's improvised new music scene. His electronic / percussion duo, MiMo, with long time collaborator Samuel Morgenstein, has just released a 96-track vinyl Locked-Groove album featuring performances by members of AIMToronto (Association of Improvised Musicians).
An avid field recordist, Matt can almost always be found with a portable recording device close by. The sounds that he captures invariably end up as the raw material for new musical concepts. He travelled extensively throughout Morocco to document the country's rich traditional music, and he maintains a website, www.moroccanmusic.com, which features some of the recordings he's made there.
